2400 year old soup

The bone soup was still liquid but had turned green due to the oxidization of the bronze

Chinese archaeologists have discovered a 2,400-year-old soup, sealed in a bronze cooking vessel in a tomb, while they were working on the extension of the airport in Xian.
The region of Xian is considered as the home to the country's famed ancient terracotta warriors.
The liquid of the 2,400-year-old soup and bones in the vessel had turned green due to the oxidation of the bronze. It has been reported that scientists are expected to conduct further tests to know about the ingredients of the liquid and confirm that the liquid is indeed soup.
Another bronze pot containing an odorless liquid believed to be wine was also found by the archaeologists in the tomb.
The 2,400-year-old soup and ancient pots found in China are indicative of the ancient custom of the country according to which the dead were buried with food items for their next life.
It is expected that the discovery of 2,400-year-old soup will play an important role in studying eating habits and culture of early period.
